EDUCATION 

OUR PROGRAMS

Safe Community Youth Initiative is a 'for impact' organization that exists to build a safe and healthy community for girls and young women in Kenya. In improving the well-being of Girls and Young Women in Kenya, the organization is committed to serving the most vulnerable girls and young women at risk of dropping out of school. Our program priorities are geared toward building life skills, livelihood skills development and providing access to quality education for girls and young women.

EDUCATION 

Education helps break the cycle of poverty by enabling girls and young women to secure better jobs, which can lead to improved living conditions for future generations. Education leads to better health outcomes. Educated girls and young women are more likely to make informed health choices, have healthier families, and access healthcare services.

 

The goal of this program is to increase access to quality education for Girls and Young Women in Kenya. To realize this goal, Safe Community Youth Initiative Improves learning condition, through teacher development to improve the quality of education, ensuring that educators are equipped to create inclusive environments that encourage girls' participation.

We provide scholarships to disadvantaged girls and young women from vulnerable families of Kenya. To keep girls in school, we provide them with dignity kits, learning and reading materials.

Additionally, the organization provides training to teachers and their learners on value based education. Value-based education fosters the development of strong moral character, helping learners distinguish right from wrong and nurturing qualities such as integrity, honesty, and responsibility.

LIFESKILL PROGRAM

Life skills equip individuals with the ability to analyze situations, identify problems, and develop effective solutions, which is crucial for personal and professional success.​ 

Through this program, the organization engages girls and young women in conversation on decision making, self awareness, leadership and advocacy. 

 

Through the Uamuzi (decision) Film Screening, the organization integrates access and demand for Sexual Reproductive Health services that are gender responsive and meet human rights standards for quality of care and equity in Kenya. We provide Family Planning Services, HIV Testing Services, STIs screening & Treatment, and Cervical Cancer Screening and Treatment.

LIVELIHOOD AND EMPLOYMENT

Women’s economic participation significantly boosts overall economic growth. When women are empowered to work and earn, they contribute to GDP and help drive economic development. Empowering women economically can lead to a reduction in poverty levels. Women tend to reinvest a large portion of their income into their families, improving health, education, and living standards.

Through this program, the organization seeks to increase equal access to economic opportunity to girls and young women to enhance employability and self employment.

 

The program is crafted to establish structures and mechanisms aimed at building and promoting uptake of business and entrepreneurial skills. Girls and young women are strengthened on generating business ideas, personal value proposition, solving problems like a boss, creating a life operation plans, money Matters, my support network for success, brand called you and perfect pitch. 

 

Additionally, girls and young women are taken through vocational skills development on tailoring & dressmaking, cake baking and beauty & hairdressing.

After graduation, the participants can either be linked with micro financial institution, or provided with business grants to support them venture into decent entreprises to generate income for improved livelihood.
